Discovering DNA & Food From The Oceans – Capitol Science!
March 2 @ 1:30 pm - 6:00 pmFree
As part of Cardiff Science Festival 2019, we are taking over one of the shop spaces in the Capitol Shopping Centre. The space will feature loads of amazing events throughout the festival that you check out.
Come along to Capitol Science! to learn about and take part in two amazing projects – Discovering DNA: Wales Gene Park and Eat SMART. Eat Food from the Oceans!
Discovering DNA: Wales Gene Park
Wales Gene Park’s interactive stand will focus on Discovering DNA – the genetic material which carries the instructions, or code, for making all living organisms. Hands-on activities include deciphering a DNA sequence to produce a take-home bracelet, making a DNA helix using origami, and sorting human chromosomes against the clock in our chromosome countdown game.
Eat SMART. Eat Food from the Oceans! : Academia Europaea Cardiff Knowledge Hub
Did you know that by 2050 there will be 2.3 billion more people on our planet? How can we continue to provide food for all of us in a sustainable way? At the moment, just 2% of our food comes from our oceans.
The ocean has so much more to offer than just fish! Join us to learn about other foods from the oceans and how YOU can make a difference by choosing to eat different types of seafood. Would you be willing to eat jellyfish or seaweed, for example?
Come along and help us to create a magical scene of beautiful creatures and extraordinary plants…! All of which could be new foods to discover and enjoy. Our large colouring sheet is waiting for you to leave your own very special mark. Colour in a jellyfish, a lobster or a crab, and take home your very own under-the-sea colouring sheet.
You can register interest in attending the event on Eventbrite.
